Mondadori Store, the largest network of bookstores in Italy, will open a new bookstore on Saturday, 4 November in the heart of Pomezia, making a hub dedicated to the world of books, culture and entertainment available to the public. The new Mondadori Bookstore will expand the already extensive network of Mondadori Stores in the area, in line with the network’s strategy to spread culture and promote reading during leisure time.

The new 90-square-metre Mondadori Bookstore offers a wide selection of over 10,000 titles, ranging from best sellers to great classics, including fiction, non-fiction and miscellaneous, not forgetting young readers with the We are Junior format, which includes educational and illustrated games to stimulate the imagination with interesting stories, and the innovative department dedicated to manga and comics, Just Comics. Also expanding the store’s offerings are areas dedicated to stationery, toys, music, gift cards and gift boxes.

From tomorrow, the Mondadori Bookstore at the Meridiana Shopping Centre in Casalecchio di Reno (BO) will show a completely renewed concept, confirming itself as a cultural landmark for the local community and those who love reading.

“The new bookshop in the Meridiana Shopping Centre confirms our commitment to spreading culture and promoting reading. The opening of this directly managed new Mondadori Bookstore is part of a broader strategy of ongoing renewal, enhancement and development of our Mondadori Store network. Located in a strategic position inside the Meridiana Shopping Centre, the bookstore – measuring 450 square metres – offers new spaces thanks to a layout and furnishings that enhance and exalt the vast Mondadori Store offer: a catalogue of more than 20,000 titles – from best sellers to the great classics, including fiction, non-fiction and miscellaneous – stationery products (with a corner exclusively dedicated to the LEGAMI brand), gift boxes and gift cards, and the original proposals of the Mondolibri club.

In the new Mondadori Bookstore in Casalecchio di Reno, there is an area specially designed for young readers, i.e. “We are Junior”: a completely new section where even the youngest can find a rich selection of illustrated books and educational games. The store also houses an extensive selection of comics in the “Just Comics” section, with manga, superheroes and graphic novels.

This year, 15 October marks the centenary of the birth of Italo Calvino, one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, and the Mondadori Group wants to pay tribute to his life and literary output with a rich program of events.

New editions in bookstores

Events for this anniversary include new editions of Italo Calvino’s works. The author’s books are now available in bookstores with a new layout designed with illustrations by Jack Smyth, a young British illustrator.

From 12 October 2023, the Mondadori Bookstore in Andria in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani (BT) will change location within the same city in order to renew its space and offerings and give it a complete makeover.

The new 220-square-metre bookstore boasts a layout and furnishings that enhance Mondadori Store’s wide range of offerings, which focus on books and services that meet customers’ needs, thanks also to new reading experiences and a calendar full of events.

To kick off the season of events, the Mondadori Bookstore in Andria on 16 October will host the author who has sold 15 million copies, Jeffery Deaver, who will meet readers to present his latest book, “Hunting Season (Tempo di caccia)”, published by Rizzoli.

The bookstore reopens just a stone’s throw away from the old premises, in a pedestrian area bustling with important businesses. With its 25,000 titles – from best sellers to the great classics, including fiction, non-fiction and miscellaneous – and a wide assortment of new music, K-POP, stationery, gadgets, gift boxes and gift cards, the bookshop is a hub for the local community. The Mondadori Bookstore in Andria also boasts an area designed specifically for young readers: “We are Junior“, a completely new department where even the youngest children can find a rich offering of educational games and picture books. “I’m happy to carry on the project of my father, who opened his first independent bookstore in 1972,” said Mondadori Store franchisee Giovanni D’Avanzo. “Since 2010, I’ve felt the need to reorganise the bookstore in a more modern way. On Friday, October 13, Mondadori Store, the largest network of bookstores in Italy, will inaugurate a new bookstore in the centre of Syracuse with the aim of promoting a cultural meeting point in the area.

The new Mondadori Bookstore, developed over a 120 square meter surface, will further strengthen the country’s already extensive Mondadori Store network by making a new hub, dedicated to the world of books, culture and entertainment, available to the public.

“The opening of the bookstore in Syracuse originates from the desire to create a truly cultural place and meeting point – in line with the objectives of the Mondadori Store network – for the area’s inhabitants and to promote social relations, also through partnerships with associations and public and private realities,” stated Salvatore Cavoli, Director of the new Mondadori Bookstore.

The Bookstore focuses on books by offering a selection of approximately 13,000 titles, ranging from great classics to fiction, also targeting young readers with the We are Junior format, which includes educational and illustrated games aimed at stimulating their imagination through interesting stories, and the innovative Just Comics section dedicated to manga and comics. The store’s offer is further broadened thanks to an area dedicated to stationery products, gift boxes, gift cards and a selection of eReaders. A reading room, designed for book signing events and to present new literary releases, has also been set up inside the bookstore.

MONDADORI BOOKSTORE MA also arrives in Milan, with its eighth store in Italy. The new store in the green, Japanese-inspired bookstore format will open on Saturday, 16 September, starting at 10 a.m., inside the Bonola Shopping Centre.

Sansevieria, bonsai trees, and tall, curved furniture reminiscent of tree trunks furnish the approximately 150-square-metre bookstore, a new magnet for the cultural life of the area. On Monday 18 August, Mondadori Store, the largest network of bookstores in Italy, opened a new bookstore in La Torre Shopping Centre in Palermo, with the aim of becoming a cultural reference point for customers and residents in the area.

The bookstore covers an area of 110 square metres on one floor. The new opening will expand the already extensive Mondadori Store network in the area, making a new hub dedicated to the world of books, culture and entertainment available to the public.

These projects stem from the desire to strengthen the relationship between schools and bookstores, to promote socio-cultural growth and to raise awareness among young people on issues such as sustainability and multiculturalism.

Mondadori Retail ‘s exclusive initiatives include Alunni in libreria which, for more than twenty years, has put preschool, primary and secondary school teachers in contact with local Mondadori Bookstores, consolidating the social role of bookstores as points of reference and promoters of cultural habits for local communities. Bookstores can become familiar places of discovery and sharing, bringing younger people closer to the world of culture and reading.

Through the platform alunniinlibreria.it, teachers will be able to get in touch with booksellers – choosing from more than 300 registered Mondadori Store bookstores – and organise visits and interactive workshops, meetings with children’s fiction authors, as well as many other fun-educational activities from the catalogue available on the site. In addition, membership allows all participating classes to receive books as gifts to enrich the school library.

From this year Alunni in libreria also presents a new initiative: Idee in circolo (Ideas in circulation), a cycle of events entirely dedicated to sustainability and green issues, designed precisely to put new ideas into circulation and create new perspectives for the future. Among the planned initiatives, for a circle of selected bookstores, there is a special new workshop format in cooperation with the cultural association Leo Scienza. An interactive experience that involves imagination with animated readings, science workshops and theatrical experiences, during which the young participants, accompanied by a couple of animators, head off to discover the main environmental and planet protection issues. An adventure in which books are brought to the stage, becoming not only a tool for learning about the wonders and difficulties of the world we live in, but also a source of solutions to the challenges of the present, incentives for action, true values and good practices.

Mondadori bookstores are also taking part in the “Scrittori in classe (Writers in classroom)”,a Mondadori Group project thanks to which bookstores are in communication with local schools offering them meetings with various authors, both online and in person. The project is aimed at primary and secondary schools with the objective of emphasising the importance of reading, the critical analysis of the text and deepening the subject matter of the book. “Scrittori in classe” represents an educational pathway that offers girls and boys the opportunity, through meetings with authors, to participate in an important moment of confrontation and cultural enrichment.

The new edition of the iconic fabric shopper – free exclusively to Mondadori Store customers – is back! This year honours the 150th anniversary of the death of Alessandro Manzoni, one of the fathers of Italian literature and still central to the school curriculum.

The school book reservation service that Mondadori Retail offers to families of students also continues. The service is available at mondadoristore.it and in participating local bookstores.

Through the pre-loaded lists of the various educational institutions, you can select the relevant class and texts and have your order sent directly to your home. In addition to school textbooks, the service is completed by a wide assortment of stationery products for children who need materials required by teachers.
