The publishing house was founded in Turin, in 1791, by the booksellers Fratelli Pomba, and assumed its current name, UTET (Unione Tipografico-Editrice Torinese – Typographical and Publishing Union of Turin) in 1854.

Its great experience with Classics is accompanied by a line of Non-fiction: quality publications aimed at a wide audience, ranging from current events to historical ones, from philosophy to science and from economy to the pop culture.
