We are very happy that the novel ‘L’età fragile’ by Donatella Di Pietrantonio, published by Einaudi Editore, won the Strega2024 Prize. “I would like to thank the Bellonci Foundation and the Amici della Domenica, my travelling companions, whom I am already nostalgic for; my publisher as a team, because writing is a very solitary act but the book as a final product is the result of teamwork done with great professionalism and great love. I promise that I will use my written and spoken voice in defence of rights for which my generation of women fought so hard and which I find myself today verifying are no longer taken for granted,’ the writer said on the sidelines of the award ceremony.
Di Pietrantonio received 189 votes from the Amici della domenica, the group of jurors called upon each year to choose the best literary work from the finalist titles, in addition to a significant number of individual or collective preferences expressed by reading circles, cultural associations, schools and universities.
Congratulations also to Raffaella Romagnolo, in the finals with her book ‘Adjusting the Universe’ published by Mondadori Libri.
