Deascuola and TikTok present a free course for secondary school teachers: “Social media and digital platforms: new learning environments”

Deascuola, one of the leading Italian educational publishers from the Mondadori Group, and TikTok, a digital platform with more than 1 billion global users, are launching “Social media and digital platforms: new learning environments”, an innovative course for secondary school teachers designed to learn and discover how to integrate traditional teaching with the common ordinary tools and languages of students.

The world of culture and information is increasingly growing on digital platforms, and schools are also requiring a growing number of teacher-creators capable of offering educational activities aimed at ensuring greater engagement and interest among scholars.

Deascuola and TikTok’s programme will start on November 8 and consists in 3 free online sessions, designed to explain how to best orient oneself or identify the positive and negative effects so as to transform such information into real educational supports usable both in and out of the classroom, and in a free teaching guide that can be downloaded at the end of the 3 webinars.

Registrations are managed via the following link: https://l.deascuola.it/TikTok/index.html

“More and more youngsters currently use digital platforms, such as TikTok and Instagram, to stay informed, socialise and follow innovation in a wide variety of fields. How can schools transform such tools into real educational supports to be used both in and out of the classroom and how can the same be transformed into new learning environments? The 3 meetings planned, and involving experts in sociology, neuroscience, pedagogy and education, were designed to respond to such question”, explains Luca Vajani, General Manager of D Scuola S.p.A.

“TikTok is also increasingly becoming both a primary reference for the world of education and the most popular medium used to share knowledge and train, by simplifying complex subjects and contents through its immediate language and inclusive approach, thus making them more accessible to all. Such project is very important as it allows us to support the scholastic activities of teachers and the education of their young students in a concrete way, by promoting intergenerational dialogue”, says Luana Lavecchia, Institutional Relations Manager of TikTok Italy and Greece.

The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 8, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m: Social media and digital platforms: perceptions and impacts.

Michela Balconi, psychophysiology and cognitive neuroscience professor at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, Giovanni Boccia Artieri, sociology professor at the University of Urbino, and Valentina Ghetti, teacher and content creator, will delve into the social and cognitive aspects involved by analysing successful projects, so as to help teachers understand the mechanisms implicated in students’ use of social networks before finally addressing issues aimed at promoting a correct, safe and useful use of digital platforms. An insightful neuroscience, sociology and BookToker meeting.

The second meeting, Social media and digital platforms: teaching tools, scheduled for Thursday, November 23, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., includes the participation of Emmanuele Massagli, Education and Pedagogy researcher at Lumsa University, and Stefania Manca, researcher at the Institute for Educational Technology of the CNR, who will illustrate some successful projects on how to use TikTok for teaching.
Digital media modify learning by changing the way our body and environment perceive their effects: technology is absorbed by the user, thus becoming part of it. Both verbal (“new alphabets”) and non-verbal (social networking netiquettes) language is also changing. Various research projects were implemented by focusing on such elements, in particular, a project on the use of TikTok, based on studies of the educational and pedagogical aspects, will be explored to transmit the Shoah memory and to preserve the collective historical one. Users can share experiences, historical facts and personal reflections on the Holocaust through short creative videos, thus reaching a wide audience of young people and creating awareness on this tragic event.

The last meeting, entitled At TikTok School, will be held on Wednesday, December 12, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Secondary school teachers and content creators of different subject areas – humanities, science and foreign languages – will share their experience under the guidance of Elia Bombardelli, teacher, creator and author at Deascuola. This will be a unique opportunity to interact with the creators Federico Benuzzi, @federicobenuzzi, Norma Cerletti, @normasteaching and Alessia Giandomenico, @studiafacileconale, and to learn how to apply the videos and materials they make to the educational practice.

This course allows teachers to better understand and explore digital platforms so as to bring them closer to their students.

A second edition of Mypersonaltrainer days with big numbers: more than 10,000 participants, 20 partners and 50 guests for more than 500 activities

Mypersonaltrainer Days, the event sponsored by the City of Milan dedicated to fitness, wellness and sports, organised by Mypersonaltrainer, a Mondadori Group brand leader in health and wellness, which was attended by over 10,000 visitors in only two days, has once again proven to be a great success.

A weekend with 500 free events, from the most innovative open-air workouts to talks to medical consultations, more than 50 guests and 20 partners, in an area of more than 1,500 square metres in the heart of Milan.

The MYPT Urban Walk, the charity sports walk to benefit the Fondazione Italiana Diabete (Italian Diabetes Foundation) – with 1,500 registered participants – was met with praise, as well as the medical consultations done in collaboration with the Centro Diagnostico Italiano (Italian Diagnostic Center), which were sold out in only a few hours.

The local event has enabled the brand to strengthen and expand its offerings, where it already reaches 13 million unique users each month and over 3 million followers on social media.

On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September the stage of the Mypersonaltrainer Days at the Dazio di Levante of the Arco della Pace in Milan was used for talks with major personalities and athletes who talked about the importance of sport and physical exercise for a healthy, balanced life. Guests included former soccer player Claudio Marchisio and Mattia Zenzola, the dancer who won Amici 22, psychiatrist and psychotherapist Raffaele Morelli, volleyball champion Cristina Chirichella, Nicola Macchione, andrologist and urologist, author and coach Daniele Di Benedetti and Sara Farnetti, an internal medicine specialist.

All the workout classes at the foot of the Arco della Pace were packed, and the most popular were Wake Up Yoga classes with Yoga Essential, the Super Jump and Fluid Silent Fitness classes with Jill Cooper, and Train with a Smile by Nicolò Famiglietti (of Power Talent Agency). There was major turnout on the sports fields, especially for Pickleball, Acrovolley, and Freeclimbing.

The results of the initiative

The great public success was combined with the excellent results that Mypersonaltrainer Days recorded on social media, with more than 10 million people reached on the Facebook and Instagram pages, thanks also to the involvement of top fitfluencers.

These numbers are the result of stories, posts, articles and interviews exclusively prepared by Mypersonaltrainer’s editorial, social and filming team being shared. It was a winning formula that contributed to yet another great result: a media impact of more than 40 million contacts, thanks to talking about the event on all of the brand’s touchpoints, an advertising campaign planned for the social networks, the website, press and radio, DOOH, plus spontaneous, high-impact media coverage.

The campaign, that aimed for participation, was very effective, thanks to strategic digital advertising carried out with conversational marketing by Hej! and proximity marketing by AdKaora.

Event partners

Mypersonaltrainer Days is an event created by Mondadori Media in collaboration with Mediamond and Brand On Solutions, a unit dedicated to the special initiatives of the Mediamond retailer, thanks as well to the support of the 20 partners who championed the initiative. In terms of publicity, the event recorded 100 per cent growth from the 2022 edition.

The following businesses in the wellness, sports and lifestyle industry had the opportunity to meet the public in customised experiential corners to promote a new and broader concept of well-being and health: Zambon, DR Automobiles, Yovis Rigenera, Centro Diagnostico Italiano, Clearcorrect (Straumann Group), Curaprox, Danacol, Croazia con la regione del Quarnaro, Kellogg’s, Pedigree, Natù Rigoni di Asiago, Scholl, Bonomelli, Lete, MCFit and Yogaessential.

During Mypersonaltrainer Days the public was able to try their hand at test drives, exciting and fun games, and consulted with experts in behavioural disorders for companion animals, particularly dogs.

The Mondadori Group supported the initiative with talks by authors from its publishing houses and book signings in a dedicated corner of Mondadori Retail.

Initiative media partners: Radio R101 with speaker Chiara Tortorella.

The set-up and logistics were taken care of by the agency Area62.The Mypersonaltrainer Days project received the support of the City of Milan, which sponsored the event, participating in the opening moderated by Monica Bertini of Sport Mediaset with Emmanuel Conte, Counsellor of the Budget and Real estate Heritage, Rosanna Volpe, the President of the BoD of MilanoSport and Nicola Zeni, President of the Fondazione Italiana Diabete.

First edition of the “Diventa Food Creator (Become a Food Creator)” contest by Giallozafferano and Alma

Giallozafferano, the most followed food media brand in Italy, and ALMA –La Scuola Internazionale di Cucina Italiana (The International School of Italian Cuisine) for culinary higher education – cement their partnership with an important contest aimed at discovering new talents in the world of chefs, capable of communicating cuisine in innovative ways.

Yesterday, at the ALMA headquarters in the Reggia di Colorno (PR), the first edition of the Diventa Food Creator competition aimed at graduates and students of ALMA ended. The chefs who took part in the initiative challenged each other by making a video reel where they prepared one of their recipes, inspired by Italian tradition, and a picture of the dish, one that could promote it from a social media perspective.

Andrea Santagata, Managing Director of Mondadori Media Area Digital and Polo MarTech said: “We are excited to support and promote young Italian culinary talent in partnership with ALMA. Giallozafferano brings together the best food creators in the Italian digital scene and is always looking for new talents who can integrate tradition and innovation, both in cooking and in the way they communicate it”.

From the many applications received, 10 finalists – who starred with their day’s dishes in ALMA – were selected for their ability to interpret contemporary cuisine in an original way and to engage the audience through the reels they made.

The finalists were evaluated by the jury, which was made up of representatives from ALMA and Giallozafferano, including renowned food creators Daniele Rossi and Lulù Gargari. The judges evaluated not only the culinary aspects of the recipes, but also the communication potential of the young chefs participating.

Jacopo Lanci and Elena Zeng were proclaimed joint winners of the first edition of “Diventa Food Creator. Jacopo Lanci, a talented ALMA graduate, took first place with his dish “Filetto alla Rossini”, awarded for being able to create a great classic by presenting it with a modern twist. Meanwhile, Elena Zeng, another talented ALMA graduate, won first place thanks to her dish “Bao alla Norma”, and for her extraordinary ability in combining Asian influences and Italian tradition, pairing the two while also being entertaining.

The winners get the opportunity to collaborate with Giallozafferano to create a series of videos for the brand’s social media, with the chance of reaching the community’s audience that boasts more than 20,000,000 followers.

The General Manager of ALMA Andrea Sinigaglia said: “Thanks to the collaboration with Giallozafferano we offered our students the opportunity to participate in this challenge, where communicating the profession digitally is at the heart of the competition. ALMA explores new languages of communication without ever forgetting the professionalism that distinguishes every hospitality expert. We believe that, in an increasingly relevant and ever-expanding digital context, the content created by our school’s students can communicate technical skills and bring attention to subjects in contemporary language, while respecting the great tradition of Italian cuisine”.

So this year our followers can expect lots of news and guests from not only the world of television, but also music and film. In short, an exclusive, immersive window into the world of entertainment, in the tradition of Chi”.

Mondadori Retail promotes a collection of school-related initiatives for the 2023/2024 academic year

Among the proposals there is the return of Alumni in bookstores, the fun and educational project for young students, and the school book booking service

Coming soon: a new exclusive Tote Bag with the Promessi Sposi theme, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Alessandro Manzoni's death

Mondadori Retail, the company that manages the largest network of bookstores in Italy, presents exclusive initiatives aimed at the school world for the 2023/24 school year. These projects stem from the desire to strengthen the relationship between schools and bookstores, to promote socio-cultural growth and to raise awareness among young people on issues such as sustainability and multiculturalism.

Alunni in libreria (Pupils in bookstores)

Mondadori Retail ‘s exclusive initiatives include Alunni in libreria which, for more than twenty years, has put preschool, primary and secondary school teachers in contact with local Mondadori Bookstores, consolidating the social role of bookstores as points of reference and promoters of cultural habits for local communities. Bookstores can become familiar places of discovery and sharing, bringing younger people closer to the world of culture and reading.

Through the platform alunniinlibreria.it, teachers will be able to get in touch with booksellers – choosing from more than 300 registered Mondadori Store bookstores – and organise visits and interactive workshops, meetings with children’s fiction authors, as well as many other fun-educational activities from the catalogue available on the site. In addition, membership allows all participating classes to receive books as gifts to enrich the school library.

From this year Alunni in libreria also presents a new initiative: Idee in circolo (Ideas in circulation), a cycle of events entirely dedicated to sustainability and green issues, designed precisely to put new ideas into circulation and create new perspectives for the future. Among the planned initiatives, for a circle of selected bookstores, there is a special new workshop format in cooperation with the cultural association Leo Scienza. An interactive experience that involves imagination with animated readings, science workshops and theatrical experiences, during which the young participants, accompanied by a couple of animators, head off to discover the main environmental and planet protection issues. An adventure in which books are brought to the stage, becoming not only a tool for learning about the wonders and difficulties of the world we live in, but also a source of solutions to the challenges of the present, incentives for action, true values and good practices.

Mondadori bookstores are also taking part in the “Scrittori in classe (Writers in classroom)”,a Mondadori Group project thanks to which bookstores are in communication with local schools offering them meetings with various authors, both online and in person. The project is aimed at primary and secondary schools with the objective of emphasising the importance of reading, the critical analysis of the text and deepening the subject matter of the book. “Scrittori in classe” represents an educational pathway that offers girls and boys the opportunity, through meetings with authors, to participate in an important moment of confrontation and cultural enrichment.

Collectors’ Tote Bag

The new edition of the iconic fabric shopper – free exclusively to Mondadori Store customers – is back! This year honours the 150th anniversary of the death of Alessandro Manzoni, one of the fathers of Italian literature and still central to the school curriculum.
The new Tote Bag, now in its eighth edition, depicts the well-known landscape scenery of a branch of Lake Como where the literary masterpiece I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed) is set.

The elegant illustration, signed by Carlotta Gasparini, makes it an unmissable accessory for all history lovers and characters of one of literature’s greatest classics.

Following the success of the previous collectors’ Tote Bags, Mondadori Store confirms its collaboration with MiMaster – Italy’s leading training school forillustration andpublishing – which draws on the creativity of young student illustrators for the graphic customisation of the bags.

The bag – collectible and made of 100% recyclable cotton – is completely in line with Mondadori Retail’s sustainable goals.

It is free to all those who buy, from 1 to 23 September 2023, from participating Mondadori Stores or from mondadoristore.it at least 2 books from the catalogue of Mondadori Group publishing houses:  Einaudi, Fabbri Editore, Frassinelli, Mondadori, Mondadori Electa, Piemme, Rizzoli, Sperling&Kupfer, De Agostini and Star Comics.

School books

The school book reservation service that Mondadori Retail offers to families of students also continues. The service is available at mondadoristore.it and in participating local bookstores.

Through the pre-loaded lists of the various educational institutions, you can select the relevant class and texts and have your order sent directly to your home. In addition to school textbooks, the service is completed by a wide assortment of stationery products for children who need materials required by teachers.

Bookstores also offer teachers a wide selection of new publications on the world of children and young people to support school planning.

Mondadori Store is the largest network of bookstores in Italy: a cultural organisation active nationwide through more than 500 stores in large cities and small towns alike, and online through the e-commerce website Mondadoristore.it and the bookclub formula. In addition to books, its core offer, it organises entertainment experiences, events and multi-channel services, reaching more than 20 million customers every year.

New Mondadori Bookstore enlivens Rome’s Via Salaria neighbourhood

Thursday, 14 September, Mondadori Store, the largest network of bookstores in Italy, will open a new bookstore in Rome in the heart of the residential neighbourhood of Via Salaria 54. To celebrate the occasion, starting at 6 pm, Marcello Veneziani – journalist and author of numerous essays on philosophy and political culture – will be there to meet readers and sign copies of his book “Vico dei miracoli”,’published by Rizzoli.

The new Mondadori Bookstore covers an area of 140 square metres spread over two floors and three storefronts located on the ground floor. The new opening will expand the already extensive Mondadori Store network in the area, making a new hub dedicated to the world of books, culture and entertainment available to the public.

This is the first opening of journalist Giulia Di Martino’s Mondadori Store affiliate, fulfilling a lifelong dream of hers. “For personal reasons, I moved to Rome from Sicily, where I worked for a local TV station. However, this unexpected change in my life has allowed me to focus on the dream I’ve had since I was a child: to have my own bookstore that could become a meeting place for all the inhabitants of the area, especially the many families that populate the neighbourhood, and to stand as a real cultural hub for the area,” said Giulia di Martino.

A team of experienced anthropologists will support the affiliate in providing the best service to customers at the new Mondadori Bookstore. The bookstore is envisioned as an additional service offered to the local community, making it a meeting place for families and schools in the area.

The new Mondadori Bookstore offers a wide selection of titles, approximately 12,000, ranging from the great classics to fiction, not forgetting young readers with the We are Junior format, which includes educational and illustrated games to stimulate the imagination with interesting stories, and the innovative department dedicated to manga and comics, Just Comics. Also expanding the store’s offerings are areas dedicated to stationery, toys, music, Kobo e-readers, gift cards and gift boxes.
